Hi, I am Bob Christensen and Living Systems Design is my consulting practice.
I have spent thirty years working on forest and land stewardship in Southeast Alaska. Most of that work has been with rural and tribal communities, doing the planning, mapping, and analysis that helps a community act on its own vision for the land around it. Along the way I have written restoration plans, built spatial models, developed grant proposals, and spent a great deal of time in the woods and on the sea.
My family and I now live in West Hawaiʻi. Living Systems Design works in both places.
I hold a B.S. in Environmental Science and a B.A. in Cultural Ecology. In 2023 I received the Society of American Foresters Service to Forestry Award, and in 2024 the Regional Forester's Award.
